Hawaii Convention Center to Implement Tactical Survey(TM) Security Technology From WFI Government Services, Inc.
SAN DIEGO, Sept 09, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Wireless Facilities, Inc. (WFI) (Nasdaq: WFII), a global leader in the design, deployment, and management of wireless communication networks, technology networks, and security systems, announced today that WFI and its partner, Tactical Survey Group, Inc. (TSG) has begun implementing the Tactical Survey(TM) security tool for the Hawaii Convention Center as part of their effort to increase safety and security. The implementation is expected to be completed in September 2005.
The Tactical Survey system is a computer-based technology that will create a 360-degree virtual tour of the more than one million square feet that make up the Hawaii Convention Center. The survey will be performed in several phases, including gathering visual and text data, proving analysis and processing of the data, delivery of the data and training. The digital images displayed by Tactical Survey will be embedded with related tactical information, such as the location of valve shutoffs, hazardous materials, and key personnel. Once the survey has been completed, it will provide a way for security, law enforcement, firefighters, and other first responders to "see through" doors, walls and around corners from a secure location.
The entire effort is being funded and managed through the Technical Support Working Group (TSWG) of the U.S. Department of Defense, a U.S. national forum that identifies, prioritizes, and coordinates interagency and international research and development requirements for combating terrorism.
"Tactical Survey uses state-of-the-art technology to address heightened demand for efficient and effective public safety measures. This powerful technology provides first responders with an important tool in responding to potential threats and saving lives," said Steve Roth, President of WFI Government Services, Inc. "We look forward to implementing this tool on behalf of other safety conscious organizations."
"Our decision to implement the Tactical Survey technology is to support the highest level of protection for the visitors and valuable assets that are part of this award winning facility," said Mr. Rex Johnson, President and CEO of the Hawaii Tourism Authority. "Advanced planning for emergency operations is one of our highest priorities. We are confident that the Tactical Survey tool offers the protection and reliability we seek to provide for a secure environment."
