SAN DIEGO, Sept. 16, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:KTOS), a leading National Security Solutions provider, announced today that Es'hailSat, the Qatar Satellite Company, has selected Kratos' Integral Systems Europe S.A.S. ("ISE") subsidiary to provide Es'hailSat's Network Operations and Satellite Payload Monitoring Center (NOC) in Doha, Qatar. The provision of the high-tech operations center marks another major milestone
in the Es'hail 1 satellite program. Es'hail 1, Qatar's first satellite, is scheduled for launch in Q2 2013. Under the terms of the contract, ISE will design, build, and test the system in ISE's integration facility in Labege near Toulouse, France, prior to shipment to and installation in Qatar.
Es'hailSat's NOC will manage access to its satellite fleet, starting with Es'hail 1. The center is to be staffed 24/7 to guarantee and coordinate the delivery of high-quality services to its customers. Experienced engineers will continuously monitor the TV channels, business services and other data/voice streams transmitted through the satellites. The Es'hailSat NOC integrates state-of-the-art technologies to allow automatic problem detection and quick problem troubleshooting and resolution.
The NOC agreement was signed in Paris by Mr. Ali Al Kuwari, Es'hailSat's CEO, and Mr. Bruno Dupas, President of ISE. Commenting on the contract, Mr. Al Kuwari said, "We are pleased to be working with ISE on this project. ISE provides satellite ground systems to world-leading satellite companies and has supported more than 200 different satellite missions across the globe. The establishment of our Network Operations and Satellite Payload Monitoring Center in Doha is an integral part of our satellite program and marks another key milestone in our plan to become a leading satellite operator in the Middle East and North
Africa region."
"We are delighted to have been awarded this contract by Es'hailSat," said Mr. Dupas. "As the leader in satellite ground systems solutions, ranging from command and control systems to RF interference mitigation, satellite communications management and end-to-end enterprise network integration, we have installed similar NOCs in many parts of the world and are pleased that Es'hailSat is demonstrating its confidence in our products and expertise. We are proud to be part of this significant satellite project in such a dynamic region."
With its first satellite, Es'hail 1, already under construction and future satellites planned, Es'hailSat will be able to supply the necessary capacity to enable its customers to substantially increase their communications capability, particularly in broadcasting in HD and 3D services over the Middle East and North Africa region. Es'hailSat aims to provide high quality, independent satellite services to customers throughout the Middle East and North Africa and to support Qatar's commitment to meeting the sophisticated communications infrastructure Qatar is
putting in place to host FIFA's World Cup in 2022.
