Kratos Awarded U.S. Army Innovative Technology and Research Contract Valued at Up to $25 Million
SAN DIEGO, May 12, 2010 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX News Network) -- Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:KTOS), a leading National Security, Information Technology, Assurance and Public Safety Solutions provider, today announced the award to its Weapon Systems Solutions Division in Huntsville, Alabama of a five year Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) contract for "Innovative Missile Design, Multi-Spectral Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) Testing, Simulation, and Sensor Technology Development by the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center (AMRDEC) Weapons Development and Integration (WDI) Directorate. The BAA is a contract vehicle used by U.S. Government agencies to contract for innovative technologies, scientific study, and applied research. Task orders will be issued for specific technology support throughout the life of this contract. The Kratos Team included our subcontractors, Torch Technologies, Inc. and AeroThermo Technology, Inc. This contract will enable Kratos and our teammates to provide innovative technology support to AMRDEC in a broad range of technology areas including: guidance system and sensor technologies, simulator technologies, missile and aviation component technologies, and modeling and simulation. The purpose of this effort is to advance the state-of-the-art capabilities in these technology areas through innovative research and extend WDI capabilities.
Along with the contract award, the Kratos Team also received the award of the first task order under this BAA for "Innovative Missile Design, Simulation and Test Technologies." The Kratos Team will provide AMRDEC WDI with specific Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and systems analysis support.
