WFI Government Services, Inc. Awarded Blanket Purchase Agreements to Supply RFID Technology to the Department of Defense
SAN DIEGO, Aug 17, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Wireless Facilities, Inc. (WFI) (Nasdaq: WFII), a global leader in the design, deployment, and management of wireless communication networks, technology networks and security systems, announced today that the Logistics and RFID Solutions sector of its Government Division has been awarded Blanket Purchase Agreements to provide technical engineering and integration services and to supply RFID printers to U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) agencies. These awards are part of a broader effort to make RFID hardware, software, and services available to DoD agencies and a recent requirement that DoD suppliers begin use of RFID Smart Labels.
"We are very pleased to be participating in the Department of Defense's RFID initiatives at this level," stated Steven Roth, President of WFI Government Services, Inc. "We believe widespread implementation of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology will be critical to the military's efforts to transform its supply line. RFID is all about connectivity to real-time events that can immensely improve supply chain operations and intelligence, and we look forward to being able to support many different DoD agencies."
The RFID Blanket Purchase Agreements are awarded in groups by the Army Contracting Agency Information Technology, E-Commerce and Commercial Contracting Center (ITEC4). WFI has won the Group 3 Award for RFID printers. It previously won the Group 2 Award for RFID readers. In addition, the Company was awarded the technical engineering and integration services award, Award Group 4, as part of the Sytex/Lockheed Martin Team. The RFID printers, readers and integration engineering available from WFI meet all of the DoD's requirements in the support category. As a result of these awards, WFI has become an authorized supplier of RFID equipment and integration services to various DoD agencies, and they can now purchase these items directly from WFI.
