Employees of Kratos' Marietta office have been working around the clock in shifts to provide relief assistance, including the repair and restoration of several buildings to return them back to full operation. Kratos has focused on repairing fire detection and alarm systems at some of the hardest hit buildings in the downtown Atlanta area, including the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC), the Omni Hotel, and the historic Cotton Mill Lofts. Without fully-functional Fire Alarms, City Fire Marshalls cannot issue needed Certificates of Occupancy that will allow the buildings to be re-opened to the public. Kratos' Fire Alarm specialists and other technicians are critical to this effort.
"We're very proud of our team," commented Steve Cory, General Manager of Marietta, GA-based Kratos Southeast. "Our installation and service technicians and managers are working around the clock to minimize the economic impact to the City and to our customers. We have done and will continue to do whatever it takes to meet critical deadlines to restore critical building systems back to full and approved operation."
The downtown area critically impacted by the tornado is being quickly cleared and repaired, but significant danger still exists from falling glass and debris from the many high rise buildings in the vicinity. In addition, the walls and ceilings of some buildings have been badly damaged. The Kratos team expects to continue their work for several more weeks, along with thousands of other volunteers focused on keeping the City working and open for business.
