U.S. Department Of Energy to Implement Tactical Survey(TM) Security Technology For Protective Force Management
SAN DIEGO, June 13, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- WFI (Nasdaq: WFII), a global leader in the design, deployment, and management of wireless communication networks, information technology solutions and security systems, announced today that it was selected by the U.S. Department Of Energy (DOE), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), and Wackenhut Services, Inc. to implement its Tactical Survey(TM) security tool at facilities located in Tennessee to enhance the security readiness of the Laboratory Protection organization at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Implementation of the survey began in mid- 2005, and was recently delivered for utilization at the facility. The ORNL Tactical Survey(TM) is a computer-based technology developed by WFI and its partner, Tactical Survey Group, Inc. (TSG) of San Bernardino, California.
The Tactical Survey(TM) System is a computer-based security tool that presents a 360-degree virtual tour of any facility, providing three- dimensional tactical images of a building and its immediate surroundings. The digital images displayed by Tactical Survey(TM) are embedded with related tactical data, including hazardous material types and locations, aerial photos, ingress and egress videos, key personnel, building construction information, utility shutoff locations with instructions, communications infrastructure, fire fighting assets, fire and security alarm systems, and perimeter control systems. Using the Tactical Survey(TM), the Laboratory Protection organization at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Protective Force organization of Wackenhut Services, Inc. will have a capability for their emergency responders and protective force members to visualize more than one million square feet across several complex structures that are part of the Lab's facilities. In addition to the Tactical Survey(TM) System, WFI and TSG are providing a comprehensive, on-site first responder training program, incorporating the survey into live training scenarios.
The effort was made possible and funded through the Department of Defense's Technical Support Working Group (TSWG), an office of the DoD charged with bringing cutting-edge technologies to a broad spectrum of government agencies with specialized security requirements. Additionally, the Department of Energy's Office of Security and Safety Performance Assurance provided funding for staff support at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
"Global experience shows that the most successful emergency planning programs include a combination of advanced safety preparedness and training. The WFI and TSG group offers safe and highly effective methods that can be used by all emergency personnel," said Robin Mickle, President of WFI's Government Services, Inc. "ORNL has demanding safety and security requirements for protecting valuable assets and key personnel. We know how important having the right tool is in responding to a crisis for public and federal agencies. We are committed to meeting our customers' needs so they are well prepared for any emergency situation."
"The Tactical Survey(TM) is an essential piece of our response planning documentation, designed to assist the protective force and law enforcement agencies during an interagency tactical operation," said Mr. Bobby Beaty, Manager of Special Operations at Wackenhut Services, Inc. - Oak Ridge.
