WFI Announces New, Cost-Saving Diagnostic Service to Be Implemented With a Major National Wireless Carrier
SAN DIEGO, Nov 18, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Wireless Facilities, Inc. (WFI) (Nasdaq: WFII), a global leader in the design, deployment, and management of wireless communication networks, technology networks and security systems, announced today that it has joined with technology company Connectiv Solutions, Inc. to implement an innovative, hosted network management solution for a major wireless carrier that will provide network diagnostics including long distance optimization services for cellular calls. The service, called RouteWatch(SM), will provide a routing analysis of long distance billing records of the carrier's commercial mobile radio services, allowing the carrier to make network adjustments which has historically provided significant savings within the carrier's network operating expenses. The national contract commences on January 1, 2006 and will continue to year end 2006. Further terms were not disclosed.
The RouteWatch service offers a complete diagnostics package providing clients with both a Web based interface to analyze results and also comprehensive project management support. This service utilizes a computer-based data-mining software application that helps identify as well as validate key savings opportunities for the wireless provider in an effort to lower their network variable expenses. The RouteWatch application collects and analyzes the Call Detail Records (CDRs) from the wireless carrier and creates key reports which allow a carrier to effectively fine-tune the routing of its long distance calls. The RouteWatch solution has been implemented within the wireless industry for over two years and has been instrumental in assisting carriers in managing and reducing their variable expenses.
"WFI is committed to providing cost effective network management solutions to our customers," said Eric DeMarco, President and CEO of WFI. "RouteWatch is an important new element of the WFI service offering that we believe can provide our customers with significant cost savings. We are hopeful that other carriers will soon come to understand and appreciate the benefits of the RouteWatch solution."
